Well, I got a 780 verbal and 620 math(1400). 34 on ACT. I had lots of activities-sports, senior class president, NHS, etc. I applied to Notre Dame, Stanford, University of Illinois, and Duke. I got into all of them and Harvard wrote me a letter strongly encouraging me to apply(I don't know why I got it). I chose Duke because it seemed the most well-rounded.

SAT I: 1450 680V, 770M SAT II: 720MIIC, 690 Physics, 650 Writing GPA: 3.8 something EC's: Eagle Scout, Marching Band (Horn Sargeant, Top 5 in state), Various Clubs, Top 10 in nation in JETS/TEAM+S competition (a science/engineering team contest) Applied (In initial order of preference): Cornell University, Case Western Reseve University, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Purdue University Accepted: All of them My story: DISCLAIMER: I AM JUST STATING WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. YOUR VIEWS OF STUDENTS MAY DIFFER FROM MINE. After finding out that I had been accepted by both Cornell and Case I decided to visit both of them. Personally, I found some of the students at Cornell to be jerks. Not all of them, of course but a good amount to be concerned about. I also found that more than half, and I mean that quite litterally, were more elitist than I had imagined they would be. On the other hand, I found the students at Case to be very friendly and helpful. The really neat thing about the kids there also was that everbody feels that they are in the same boat together. They all know that they are very accomplished and rather smart, so they have gotten over that and there is no academic competition at all. Needless to say, I am attending Case. What also helped my decision immensely was the financial aid. Here is the run down from each university: Case: $17,500 of $20,000 tuition Cornell: $6,000 of $24,000 tuition Purdue: $3,000 of $10,000 tuition Rose: $6,000 of $23,000 tuition Hope I helped you out

after deferral- it depends on the % people that the college defers- for example:
mit defers like 92% and sends out very few rejections. if your're defered from mit, you're pretty much gone
penn defers only around 5%, if you're deferred from penn, you're probably in
yale, i'm not too sure- you should check on the application or on their website about whether they send mosty deferrals or rejections
hey, good luck on your reg decisions... you got an excel chance at penn and columbia... tho i'd say harvard will be tough
