Q:

Does your program email people to notify them that a reply has been posted in response to their post?

Notify the original author when replies are posted are one of Anyboard's
notification features. In Anyboard

1) A poster can request to receive replies in email
(subject only or body) .
The poster can also send the post by email to admin.

2) A replying poster can choose to also email his post to the original
author (if enabled).

3) Admin can send email to all members when posting. (Mail
annoucement)

4) Admin can ask Anyboard to email back the uploaded file in a post
to all replying authors as an email attachment. (File distribution).

5) Admin can set Anyboard to redirect the replying author to the
related link in the orginal post.

6) A user can request to be in the notifiee list, and then he/she
will receive all new posts in email.

Besides notification, email is used to
1) Validate user's email address when registering
2) Email lost password to user
3) Send alarm emails to Admin

Of course, all the functions above have their associated flags
to be turned on and off.
