Now we come to the great Lisinopril dilemma. The doctor puts this guy on Lisinopril 40mg and the guy starts complaining to the doc that the pills are burning his esophagus. It's obvious that the guy has some sort of pill book at home and has been reading about side effects. Anyway, the doc writes a new script for Lisinopril, but this time for 20mg. I put the script on the guy's profile and don't fill it figuring that the guy will be smart enough to break the 40mg pills in half and besides, this will save him a copay from his insurance company. So the customer comes in the same day to get his script filled. My coworker goes out to the man and tells him that we didn't fill it because the 40mg pills were filled two days prior. He asks the guy if he wants to just break the 40mg tabs in half, explaining to him that the pill would be smaller, his esophagus would be safe and it would save him money. The guy would not listen to reason. So, I figure what the heck, if the guy wants to throw his money away we'll take it. I wonder if anyone's done research to see if Lisinopril does anything to affect the part of the brain that works on deductive reasoning?
