One of the hymns I want sung at my funeral...

LOL, yes I've planned funeral hymns for a long time, not that I've been planning on dying, but these are the ones that touch me the most.

I've never like the "ebenezer' verse much.... possibly because it wasn't in the hymnal.  I remember being taught this hymn when I was in high school, and our chorister taught us the meaning... what a fetter was, what it meant to be a debtor to grace... I just feel in love with the song.  After I finally heard the third verse, and didn't fall for it, I rewrote my own third verse.  It goes like this:

****

Oh, dear Lord with all my weakness

I am not what I should be,

Yet within my soul's true longing

I would live my life for thee.

Won't you teach and guide and bless me

For on thee I shall depend

'Til that day I come to join thee

precious Savior, dearest friend!

****

When I'm in my car with time to sing,

I sign this song with my third verse, and it truly is a song of my heart.

Thanks for the link, I loveit!
